Begin your tour with an early morning pickup from your Negril hotel and relax on the journey to Jamaica’s South Coast. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views as you climb through the mountains and learn more about local life in Jamaica as you drive through rural villages and lush farmlands.

The first stop of the day is at YS Falls, a dramatic seven-tiered waterfall in the heart of the rainforest. Hop aboard a jitney (shared bus) pulled by a tractor for a short, thrilling ride through the forest, then enjoy some free time to explore the natural wonder. Perhaps dive in to swim beneath the falls, swing on the Tarzan rope, or get your adrenaline pumping on the zipline canopy (extra cost).

Continue to the Black River, where you’ll enjoy a typical Jamaican lunch (included) at the Riverside Dock restaurant, then head down to the riverbank to begin your cruise. Set sail aboard a pontoon boat for an hour-long cruise along the river, and look out for wildlife such as crocodiles, eagles, and egrets as you cruise downstream.

On return to the dock, your driver will be waiting to take you back to Negril. Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Savanna La Mar
Savanna-la-Mar was originally established as a settlement in Spanish Jamaica. In 1780, the town was completely destroyed by a powerful hurricane known as Savanna-la-Mar hurricane. It was rebuilt, as the port was an important part of the Atlantic trade in sugar, slaves and other goods. After Great Britain abolished slavery in 1833 and before the abolition of slavery in the United States in 1865, its officials in the Caribbean colonies at times ordered the examination of slaves on American ships that happened to come to its Caribbean ports, to see if they wanted to stay in the colony and gain freedom, or return with the ship to the United States and slavery. In the cases of the Enterprise at Bermuda in 1835 and the Creole at Nassau in 1841-1842, a total of more than 200 slaves gained freedom. In at least one case, residents intervened to help others gain freedom. On 20 July 1855, Jamaicans boarded the United States Brig Young America, which had docked into Savanna-la-Mar. They had learned that the cook, a man named Anderson (alias Nettles), was a fugitive slave, and took him to shore, where he gained freedom. (He had boarded the ship with free papers in the name of Nettles.) The Jamaican magistrates did not interfere. The United States consul, R. Monroe Harrison (1768-1858), complained to the British colonial government about the incident. He also published a letter in The New York Times a few days later warning shipmasters against having blacks as part of their crew on ships putting into Jamaica, at the risk of losing them.

Black River
What a memorable day it has been so far! Now you are at the Riverside Dock where you will have lunch. After lunch, you will meet with your Safari Tour Guide who is very knowledgeable & well prepared - eager to take you on a wild journey up the Black River. There you will get all the information on the Black River and its wildlife, including endemic bird species, crabs, rare or endemic plants such as water lilies and others - North American crocodiles and Tarpans also occupy their space in the Black River. Get your cameras ready as your Safari Captain call the crocodiles, feed them chicken meat and pet them - no, your tour guide is not crazy but they have an excellent relationship with their friends from the Safari and are ready to share their experience and expertise with you! You might even see local fishers snorkeling the river collecting their crab traps or spear fishing right there among the crocodiles and other wildlife - and no, they're not crazy! It's just a way of life! After an amazing experience at YS Falls and Black River Safari it will be time to head back to your hotel/pickup point.

YS Falls
As you set off from your hotel heading towards the south coast, you might be asking yourself - What is the drive going to be like going to the south coast of Jamaica? Well, it finally hits home as you start making your way along the beautiful southwestern coastline and through small towns with busy fishing villages. A large number of the locals are happy fisher folks who will wave at you as you go by. Don't forget to take your cameras! You will need them for your vacation photos - the crisp colourful coastline will keep you busy taking photos as you make your way to YS Falls. The ride to the south coast is approx.. 1hr 30mins. Ask your tour guide about the myriad of local fruits and peppered shrimp when you get in the town of Middle Quarters, otherwise known as "shrimp Country". After an entertaining ride and an amazing local experience, you arrive at YS Falls, get checked in and board the tractor jitney that will take you on a 10 minutes ride through the 2,600 acres property and up to the falls. The YS Falls property is home to horses, cattle, massive guango and mango trees. You will be in awe as you make your way through the lush, green vegetation with crystal clear water streaming through the forest. At the YS Falls you can soak yourself in the 100% natural pools and cascades, swing on Tarzan Ropes, swim, etc. It is the perfect choice for a romantic getaway or if you wish to break away from the hustle and bustle of the busy resort property. Please take advantage of the Zipline Canopy or Tubing while you are there (Zipline & tubing comes at an additional cost). Total time at the YS Falls will be approx.. 1hr 30mins after which time you will head down to Black River for a stop at the Riverside Dock where you will have local lunch buffet. This tour is a MUST!!!

Our tour guide was amazing! Took a beautiful ride to YS Falls, which looks like its right out of a storybook it’s so beautiful. The bonus is that most tourists go to Dunn’s Falls, so we had the place largely to ourselves. The guides there helped us through the waterfalls, then a dip in the pools, and we were off to an amazing lunch by the Black River. Then a boat ride on the Black River, and while on the boat, our very knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide told us all about the natural history of the area while identifying birds and naming crocodiles. It was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable day. If you take one tour, take this one! The scenery, the nature, and the people made this one of the best tours ever!!

We took this tour on February 13, 2020. The tour guide, Junior, was a very nice guy and accommodated all we asked. The Falls were beautiful and the guys there took incredible time in taking pictures on our own cameras. The Black River was fun with Captain C who had a very personal relationship with the crocs. Very fun day. Would highly recommend it.

This tour was well worth it to try and see as many things as we could in our short trip to Jamaica. The only thing I would change is that even though I specified on my booking that I was a vegetarian, there was not a vegetarian option for me to eat at lunch, so i just had rice. YS falls was my favorite part, doing the cliff jumping and zip lining all around the gorgeous falls.

This was a great time. We were picked up on time from our resort and our driver was very informative and talked a lot about Jamaica and the customs. The Black River tour was awesome. Would have liked to see more crocs but the ones were saw were active and came right up to the boat. The guide on that tour was great and told us all about the Black River. We had a good lunch after the tour. Then it was on to the YS Falls. They were beautiful and we were on our own and could take our time. The ride from our resort was long but worth it. Would highly recommend this trip.
