The master perfumers of Molinard have been creating renowned fragrances in the French Riviera since 1849. Learn some of the company’s sweet-smelling secrets with this fun, hands-on workshop in Nice. Make your way to the lovely Molinard boutique in the center of town during the shop’s opening hours and take a seat at the perfume creation station.

Delve into the history of French perfume with your expert instructor and learn about the distinction between eau de parfum, eau de cologne, eau de toilette, and eau fraiche. Discover the different ingredients commonly used to make top-shelf scents and learn to identify what’s in your favorite perfumes on the market.

Next, it’s time to make your own signature scent. Choosing from 90 different fragrances, bases and essential oils, experiment with blending your favorites to find a combination that hits it right on the nose. Take home your very own perfume in a 1.75-fl oz (50-ml) vial for a reminder of your time in Nice. If you ever want to order more of your custom blend, you can do so using a special code on the workshop diploma you receive.

To be honest, we were not sure what to expect from this experience. However, as soon as we walked in, the specialist made us feel at home and made the whole experience very pleasant. There were two other people in our group (a brother and sister) and we all really enjoyed the whole process. The specialist gave us very detailed advice and instructions on how to create our perfect scent. After we selected our preferred smells, she helped each individual, group together possible combinations until each of us found the right mix :) She was very patient and helped navigate us through a very complex, scientific process. Once we made our selections, she wrote down the exact mL for each scent that should go in our bottles. At the end of it, we each have our own unique, preferred scent. You also get a certificate, which will help you reorder it in the future!

Not to be sexist, but as a guy I had doubts about this. It was something to do. It turned out to be fun and I actually learned some interesting stuff about perfumery. The guide was a true expert and helped us make our own custom blend. And it was more than a “vial” as listed. It was a 50ml bottle! (Only on the longer workshop)

Oh my goodness this was more than worth the price of the ticket. It was so much fun! Everyone was involved. Some surprises too! The smells need to be smelt don’t just go by the names. If you get the chance try smelling the cardamum and green tomato. Just trust me you won’t be upset :)

This was such a great, fun experience for me and my best friend. We got lost trying to find our way and was about fifteen minutes late to the appointment. We were greeted by Serena/Sabrina? and she was so kind and gracious despite our tardiness. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant and the quality of the scents and perfumes is absolutely worth it. They even save your recipe on file to remake it in the future if you want to order some more. 10/10
