Piazza Verdi, 90138 Palermo PA, Italy

Main gate of Teatro Massimo Opera house in piazza Verdi. Your guide will be carrying a red bag with Streaty logo printed on.

Return Details

Piazza S. Domenico, 90133 Palermo PA, Italy

Tour ends in piazza San Domenico or in piazza Fonderia (both point are at walking distance from the cruise port)

Meet your guide in Piazza Verdi, near the iconic Teatro Massimo opera house. It’s the largest in Italy, and was in a pivotal scene in The Godfather: Part III. Get your Palermo ‘foodie’s passport,’ which you’ll get stamped at every tasting point along the tour.

Street food is cooked and served at street stalls, modest bakeries and old bars. This street food tour has been designed to show Palermo with no filters of any kind.

Begin making your way to the Vucciria Market and Mercato di Capo, two busy and colorful outdoor markets in Palermo. Listen as your guide offers insights into how Sicily’s unique culinary history informs its street food scene while vendors of local produce and seafood promote their goods. The Church of the Immaculate Conception is nearby, which you can visit if you like (own expense).

Get in line at neighborhood bakeries, cafes and street food stalls to try a variety of famous Sicilian street snacks. Munch on chickpea fritters called panelle and deep-fried balls of rice stuffed with meat, vegetables and cheese called arancine as you collect stamps in your foodie passport.

Sip on a sweet Sicilian wine to wash down your fried treats, and then head for a seasonal dessert. You may indulge in Sicily’s famous cannoli (deep-fried pastry cylinders filled with sweetened ricotta cheese), some gelato or a refreshing granita (a fruity slushy).

Great tour!! My husband and I had a great time with Marco on the street food tour. He shared some history about Palermo and the surrounding streets, it was much more than a food tour. All of the food was very good on the tour and we left completely stuffed. Great variety of street food and dessert at the end. We even went back to a few of the stops for more the next day. Thank you Marco, great night

Salvo took us around for four hours showing us the many tastes of Palermo’s street foods. We toured the markets and a few local establishments too. Food was good and I tried a lot of new things. Drinks and dessert also included. Great tour!
Authentic Introduction to the local cuisine.
, Oct 2021
The street food that we experienced, was, to say the least, unique, and surprisingly delicious. Our guide, Salvatore, was articulate, knowledgeable, and entertaining, and completely familiar with the locals and the Palermo street food scene. It was a wonderful introduction to the local cuisine.
Take this Tour!

What a fun way to learn a bit about the culture of Palermo and eat some fantastic food! We meandered down little roads we would never have found, and had lots of culinary delights. Our guide, Salvo, made it fun and told us lots about his experiences. A great night!

Angelos knowledge of Palermo, the food, real estate, history and potential for the future. We liked the arincina so much we had another the next day.
Unique eating adventure
, Sep 2021
Angelo our tour guide rocked. He was funny, knowledgeable and very interactive with our group. He was built to give this tour. It seemed like everyone we passed knew him. The food selected was very good but not Atkins friendly. The tour was low key and unique. We had a picnic in a bar and some unusual sandwiches from a guy at a cart. Thanks Angelo. We had a great time.
