Make your way to a private apartment in the city center of Paris to meet a local French chef who will be your teacher and guide for this cooking class. Learn what it takes to produce the celebrated French macaron, a combination of crisp meringue and creamy filling, using the legendary recipe of French pastry chef Pierre Hermé.

These sweet treats were made famous by the Ladurée pastry shop, which has been producing the confection since 1930. Each macaron is comprised of two delicate meringue cookies that sandwich a flavorful creamy filling, and today they can be found in any pastry shop in Paris and throughout France.

During your 3-hour macaron class, you'll learn to make these delightful treats with cooking equipment found in most home kitchens, enabling you to recreate the experience when you return home. Your group will choose two macaron flavors to make from the following options: coffee, lemon, raspberry with Tonka bean, chocolate or coconut with milk chocolate.

When the lesson is complete, you'll not only leave with a recipe you can use over and over again, but you'll also get a box of your own handmade macarons to take with you.

Macaron making perfected

This class was wonderful. My daughters and I had attempted to make macarons on several occasions and couldn't get them right so I decided to take this class. Chef Frederic was wonderful and told me right away what the problem was.(humidity and the method of cooking the sugar for the meringue) This is a very hands on class so I got to participate in making the macarons the correct way which made it easier to replicate once I got home. We made perfect macarons at home. He even gave me tips on where to find some wonderful spices and vanilla beans in Paris. I highly recommend!

We had a great time as a mother/daughter duo in this cooking class! We are looking forward to using the tips given to us to make the perfect macaron! An added plus... we enjoyed the other attendees! This is a must-do activity if you enjoy macarons!!!
the perfect class

we had such a great time making macarons. These are the ones with the cookie wafer and filling in the middle, not the ones with coconut that look like stars. We enjoyed the class, we do wish it had been a little more hands on but none the less we all participated and we even got to take a small box with us. I can't wait to get the recipes and start making them at home.
A strict class that was not really fun....

The class was held in a tiny kitchen in a small, dimly lit house. There were 8 students. We mainly watched Marthe, the chef, make the macarons. We participated a little. But we did not each get our own ingredients to make the macaron from beginning to end. The kitchen was very small and crowded. It was also pretty hot. Many students left the kitchen to go sit in the small living room to escape the heat. The chef Marthe was skilled as a chef, but pretty boring as a teacher. She seldom smiled. The class was strict and NOT entertaining. We learned somewhat, but it was NOT fun. In conclusion, I would not recommend this class to my friends. The environment was not welcoming and the teacher was not warm or smiling. And we did not make macaron on our own from beginning to end.

This is a great class to take when in Paris. Frederick is a great chef with an amazing sense of humour. He was very helpful with any questions we had and there was only 2 of us in the class so that was even better than with a big group. If you love Macarons then you need to do this. I visited in April 2019. I was travelling solo as I went to visit with my family

Great explanation; watch once, then you do (ideal learning). Very hospitable in her home, and very good at English language.

We ended up having a private lesson since the other party didn't show up. The lesson was excellent and the host was very thorough and professional. The final product was delicious.

Wow! What a great experience learning how to make Macarons with Chef Marthe in Paris. Our family of four had a great time, as it turned out to be just the five of us for the class. She made us feel comfortable, especially our two children, ages 15 and 11. Good combination of formal and hands-on instruction, plus lots of insight into Paris cooking culture. Afterwards, Chef Marthe emailed us all of the recipes as well as suggestions for places to eat in Paris as well as where to buy cooking equipment or what exactly to buy once we got back home. It's easy to feel like you're going through the masses on tours and major sightseeing locations, it's really nice to have a 1-on-1 experience that's personal, memorable as well as a practical skill you can use again. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful experience with Chef Marthe. The Macarons came out wonderfully, we learned all the tricks she uses, and she made many recommendations to us for where to buy supplies and for where to eat. Yum yum. Can't wait to try them when we get home!
