Discover the secrets of French baking with this unique culinary experience in Paris. Meet your host, a local chef, in a convenient central location and then walk together to his or her nearby apartment. Tie on an apron and prepare to get busy in your host’s fully equipped private kitchen.

The exact recipes your host selects will vary by day, but you can expect to prepare two or three different desserts. You may whip up French classics like tarte Tatin (upside-down caramelized apple tart), delicate lemon madeleines (shell-shaped butter cookies) or molten fondant au chocolate. The day’s menu may also include or other sweet treats from around the globe, such as rum-roasted pineapples or another recipe favored by your host.

Prepare to measure, mix, boil and bake under the watchful eye of your expert instructor. Learn professional tips for delicious results and chat about what it’s like to work as a professional chef in a city known worldwide for fantastic cuisine. When the oven timer goes off, take a seat and enjoy your homemade desserts accompanied by coffee, tea or hot cocoa.
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 2 days of travel. In this case confirmation will be received within 48 hours, subject to availability
  • Minimum age: 6 years old
  • Vegetarian, vegan, glucose-free and lactose-intolerant dietary restrictions are catered to. Please note this in the 'special requirements' field on booking.
  • The class requires a minimum of two people total. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements or too many passengers in one booking that would overbook the class. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund

What a wonderful experience to have a French chef teach you to make 3 French Desserts in his own kitchen! It was just our four friends, and we had the BEST time! (But I am still waiting to receive the recipes via email as promised, lol)

Chef Dominique welcomed us to his home which is not in the center of Paris as promised easy to reach by Metro but at least a 30 min transfer ride. He is charming, fun, and knows his way around food. We were the only two present. Presentation and opportunity to participate in the recipe-making was basic and pleasant enough but we felt something was missing for the price we paid. Maybe a glass of wine when we ate our meal would have been nice.

Chef Dominique Dury was so inviting! He was well prepared and had everything ready to go. He also did such a great job at explaining everything as we went. Highly recommend. (Only thing is I'm still waiting on the recipes - can't wait to try them at home) Will never forget this experience!

Our family group of 7 enjoyed this baking class. It was instructive and fun, and the results were delicious. It is quite expensive however, at more than 100/person for a 3-hour class. And 7 people is too large a group. Although we paid 850 for our group of 7, only the 3 children in our group did any baking the adults just watched there is not enough for 7 people to do in a small kitchen. In hindsight, we should have just signed up the 3 children 1 adult, but nothing in the course description indicated that a maximum of 3 or 4 is the ideal class size. One other suggestion is to make clearer on the Viator website the existence of and difference between alternative classes. I know now that there is this desserts class and also a macaroon class had I realized that before, we may have signed up for the macaroon class instead.

My granddaughter 7 yo and I took this class and it was a wonderful experience. Chef Dominique was a great teacher and since my granddaughter is a budding chef he let her do everything she knew how to do plus teaching us both new skills. The desserts we made were delicious and we have the recipes to make them again. This was a real treat for us to do together and I highly recommend this class for adults and children or both!
