Private Tour of Versailles Palace

I was extremely disappointed in this tour. We were four people on this tour, two adults and two 12 year olds. The tour guide arrived at our Paris hotel at 9:00 , as planned, and we took the Metro and the train to Versailles. When we go there she explained that if we wanted to see the palace first, we would have to wait in a very long line. She suggested that we avoid this by booking an additional tour of the kings private apartments not included in the palace and gardens admissions, and when that concluded, we would be able to go directly to the palace. This would all take place after she left. During her time with us, she showed us the gardens and the Petite Trianon. The guide provided some history, but did little to engage my grandchildren. I have traveled in Europe with my grandchildren prior to this. I know that a good tour guide can make a place come alive. This did not happen. Given the considerable cost of this tour, I expected a very different experience.

This trip was fantastic! Our guide met us at our apartment and accompanied us to Versailles, where she regaled us with history and stories! My 72-year old father really enjoyed being able to ask his questions to someone so knowledgeable. This tour was great for my sister and I as well.

Booking a tour through Viator was great. Because we were not staying in Paris, I needed to confirm a meeting place. The agent I spoke to was very helpful finding a central location in Paris. Raphaelle (our guide) was fabulous--great suggestions to avoid crowds (gardens first) and see special rooms.

Calloway was excellent! I thought we would be touring only the Palace, which we did, but he first spent a lot of time showing us the gardens which I had no idea was as vast as it was - hours worth - plus his detailed depth of knowledge on the history and tidbits of information of Versailles as well as his great sense of humor made this tour a wonderful experience. I have toured Versailles before but never with such enjoyment as my group of four did with Calloway. Well worth the extra expense of this personal tour

Excellent tour! Our guide Jonathan met us at our hotel and took us by train to Versailles. Everything went great and the Palace was amazing. He was very knowledgable of the history of the Palace. The gardens were amazing! We had a blast and our morning tour had almost no wait. :-) Highly recommended

We enjoyed our tour guide, Calloway, who added some pazzaz to our tour. He was informative and entertaining and kept the tour lively. Even helped us with some shopping at the end!
