Small-Group French Cooking Class in Paris

We loved our time with Chef Myriam and the others in the class. I highly recommend this experience. My daughter and I came for her 18th birthday and it was a weekend to remember.

We had a great time cooking quail, potatoes, and chocolate lava cake with the chef. He provided an intimate environment to learn about French cooking and everyone in our group seemed to have a fantastic time.

We had a blast cooking with Chef Myriam! . Would highly recommend doing this. The food we cooked was amazing and the experience was on a personal level. Cannot wait to do it again. Not to mention the views from the apartment were gorgeous. Definitely a MUST!

I typically do not write reviews but I have to say this activity was quite a let down. Firstly, we had originally told the chef we are Vegans and were told she may or may not accommodate us because there may be other guests present other then my family. Well...there was no other guests and basically our wish was ignored and barely mentioned. So, we decided to cheat on our doctor prescribe diet and make the best of it. Then, the chef lacked total enthusiasm and the entire event was boring. The food we cooked was so-so and basic. A quiche, a salad and a simple chocolate cake. Once we barely put our fork down from eating the meal, we felt the chef immediately wanted us out of the house to get some time to hang until her next appointment. The kitchen itself was tiny with barely any space to move around. We have done many many cooking classes all over the world. This was the worst one ever. Sorry if it hurts anyone’s feeling, but it is reality.

I wanted to love this experience so much, but my husband and I did not. A small group of us met with a "chef" (who was not a chef) that had a different name than what was stated in our confirmation email. He was super awkward, hardly speaking to us at all. He barely told us how to cook or what he was doing. It was a real let-down. We all tried to force some sort of conversation with each other, since trying to speak to him was like pulling teeth. My husband doesn't speak French, but I do, so that is why we signed up for an English-speaking instructor. I don't think he got the memo that I speak French (even though I had stated that in our reservation), because he and the butcher we went to were joking about us being another group of suckers. (That was more so the butcher, our host just laughed along awkwardly). I also don't appreciate that half the food our fees no doubt paid for, was tupperwared into his fridge without offering it to us. I didn't learn a thing concerning cooking techniques as he did the cooking himself in silence. He let us do some prep work, but who on earth would pay this much for instruction on using a simple mandolin?

I Learnt some new skills and met some lovely people. An interesting and enjoyable session that I recommend to others

Chef Dominique Dury was wonderful and we really enjoyed the class. Lots of clever tips and who knew duck could be so tasty! Our only disappointment was the he took all our email addresses to sent us the recipes and none of us every received them :(

This is a great way to start your days in Paris. Chef is relaxed showing great skills. The environment is intimate with plenty of hands on. The menu was excellent, simple but different. Everything was quite delicious. I will reproduce the dishes. Loved it.

This was an expensive event that was not what we expected. We prepared a meal that anyone could have done in a tiny apt kitchen that was not at all professional. The utensils, the kitchen, the food was all sub par. The vegetables were so overcooked they were mush. When the meal was served the chef pulled out a bottle of opened cheap wine and offered us a glass. NO THANK YOU! He was a terrible conversationalist and after spending 4 hours with him he didn’t know my name. This was the biggest rip off of our trip and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this experience. Plan ahead and take a class at the Cordon Bleu!

Chef Fred taught me so much about creating flavor by letting food do it’s job. Starting with high quality ingredients and striking the right balance of texture, salt, savor. It was truly unforgettable. You absolutely must do the market tour; it’s an important part of the lesson.
