Agincourt Reef is a fantastic base for discovering the outer Great Barrier Reef, featuring a permanently moored pontoon for easy underwater exploration. Your full-day adventure begins with a 1.5-hour high-speed catamaran cruise to the edges of the reef. During the voyage, relax on the sun decks, take morning tea and watch a snorkeling demonstration.

When you arrive at Agincourt, splash into the water from a submerged platform to snorkel among tropical fish and coral gardens using provided snorkeling equipment. If you prefer to stay dry, you can still explore the world-famous reef from an underwater observatory or with an included semi-submersible boat tour.

Many optional activities allow you to customize your reef adventure (additional expense). Go deeper with an introductory or certified scuba dive, take a guided snorkeling tour led by a marine biologist, embark on an Ocean Walker helmet dive or get an aerial perspective on the reef with a thrilling 10-minute helicopter flight.

Savor a tropical buffet lunch onboard the catamaran midday, and recharge with afternoon tea. After approximately 3.5 hours at the reef, relax on the return ride to Port Douglas.

See Itinerary below for a complete description of all included and optional tours and activities. Select the guided snorkeling tour, introductory dive and Ocean Walker at booking; other activities are payable direct on the day of your tour.

Misleading information

Details mentioned 3.5 hours on the pontoon. We only got 2 hours 40 min. Would love to have more snorkelling time.

The semi-submersible is such a great experience for non swimmers and swimmers alike. My mum (who can't swim) had a great day on the reef. As for snorkelling, as soon as you poke your head down you see beautiful coral and fish. The buffet lunch was tasty enough, the staff super friendly and helpful and made sure we didn't feel lost or unsure about what to do - important for first time snorkellers! The pontoon makes it easy to have a break.

Making it easier for the ‘not so nimble’
Barbara_P

I have difficulty walking & a number of health issues. Every member of the crew is attentive and helpful. It’s a large and intimidating ship but from the Captain through to the crew everyone is friendly welcoming and safety is a focus. The pontoon is larger than any one I have seen, it’s a structure out at the reef. It even has a ‘lift’ to lower someone like me into the water. It was great, but slightly out of my comfort zone to be immersed into the reef & see some coral and fish. I think it’s better to go twice in order to prepare for the experience.

Seeing the Great Barrier Reef was amazing! Let alone the way quicksilver showed us. The staff were so nice and welcoming! So easy to talk to if you had a question or just to have a chat. The activities for the day were so amazing and fun and they made sure you knew of the schedules for the day so you didn’t miss out on anything. Would definitely recommend this to anyone!!

The whole experience was amazing. The crew were all lovely & everyone played an important role to the tour which clearly showed. We would highly recommend doing the Marine Biologist tour. We had Hayley as our guide, her knowledge & enthusiasm towards her work & the reef made it feel a whole lot more special.

Great day out- an experience to remember!

My family and I went on the quicksilver cruise and it was unreal. Bumpy conditions on the way out- the crew were very attentive to my child who was sick. We were unaware of professional photos that going to be taken which an added bonus- this included underwater photos while snorkelling. It was a great day out and really topped off our holiday. Will definitely go on this cruise again!!

Not much to see in the snorkeling site
Roy_P
, Feb 2022
The snorkeling site has not much to see but it's exciting for beginners though. Not sure if they can move the pontoon elsewhere. Photo op distructs your attention maybe because there's less to see. It appears great barrier reef is overrated? The food was ok except the chicken which was hard as rock and cold. Interestingly the guy who handout the lycra suit knows the size of every guest. Contrary to our reviews we were lucky that it wasn't crowded and the catamaran wasn't packed.

Diving was great. We don’t have a ticket but the instructor was fantastic. The snorkelling was also great - so much coral and fish varieties.
