Returns to original departure point
Leave Prague by air-conditioned coach and travel toward the Czech Republic's northern border with Germany.

As you travel, hear about the history of Dresden from your expert guide. Sitting on the Elbe River and the capital of Germany’s state of Saxony, the city is known as the ‘Florence of the Elbe’ for the glorious rococo and baroque architecture of its center.

On arrival in the late morning, head for the splendid Zwinger Palace, a former royal residence that’s home to a world-famous art collection. Visit the Old Masters Gallery and view the masterpieces such as the Sistine Madonna by Raphael, works by Titian and Canaletto, and paintings by 17th-century Dutch and Flemish masters including Rembrandt and Rubens.

Next, head through the Dresden Castle complex and visit the iconic Church of the Virgin Mary (Frauenkirche), crowned by one of Europe’s largest domes. Admire the baroque masterpiece as you learn how it was rebuilt after its destruction during WWII.

After your guided tour, enjoy free time for lunch (own expense). Perhaps eat at any of the pubs and restaurants along the pedestrianized area of Weisse Gasse, before enjoying more free time to sightsee or shop on your own.

If you wish, admire the grandiose Semper Opera House, where premieres of works by Richard Wagner were held in the 1800s; or stroll along the Elbe to see the Blue Wonder, a steel bridge declared a miracle of engineering on its completion in 1893.

Finally, travel back to Prague, where your tour ends at the starting point.

Tour Guide Flaws

Dresden was really a nice City! But our tour guide never wanted to speak inloke the tour guides we had who would keep you informed of everything you need to know ahe never bothered to inform us that we have arrives our destination about the city the important things we needed to know ! It was a boring trip from Prague to Dresden because everyone was silent. She never made an effort to keep the tour interesting and fun. She spoke only to the driver. The driver Was a good driver but he was stinky and smells aweful! the van has to be replaced bcoz it had a defect we went to a garage and was left for 15 minutes bcoz the driver forgot something. In Dresden we had to do our own research so we would know why the buildings were! Just very boring tour guide ! You have to ask her so she would speak but on the way back she was busy talking to the driver but never said or asked us how our expereince was

2 stars for the tour, 3.5 stars for Dresden.

As all the other reviews outline, this tour is not good value for money, you are essentially paying purely to be driven to and fro Dresden. Guide does very little 'guiding', in fact, she says barely anything audible all day. We were dropped at the Zwinger and left there for an hour to look at a highlights exhibition that consisted of only 4 rooms. After that, we were forced to have lunch together (at our expense) which I'm pretty sure the guide did in an attempt to get her own lunch for free. We then were taken on a small walk around the town (maybe 30 mins) and left with 2 hours free time. There's not that much to do and see there, especially on a Sunday when the shops are closed, so I think the whole day could have been 2 hours shorter. Overall I'd suggest catch the train there or skip it all together.

One of the highlights of your trip!

Dresden was simply amazing! The city has character, history and amazing art! The tour itself is so-so. Our guide was great and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the vast amounts of free time so we could explore ourselves without a guided this or that. If you are active and don't require a lot of supervision on tours, this is one for you!

Extremely expensive for what it was!!!

We did not liked this tour, was very very expensive for what it was: just the transportarion to Dresden, you can take the train for just 5 euros. Our guide was really kind, but she was not able to give valid and clear wxplanations (she is more than 80 years old). She explained a pair of things on the way and when arrived to Dresden gave ys entrances to the museum and she waitied outside!!! I was expecting a tour with guide, one already paid since Prague and very expensive. Not worth it at all

I am not sure where to start with this review. First, I emailed 5 times to confirm this trip and never got a response once! Our hotel had to call and confirm for us. Upon pick up and going to the main meeting location, we picked up a family that could not have been more annoying and ruined the trip overall! The older mother, along with her middle aged son, were so chatty during the tour guides talks that she literally had to ask her twice to be quiet, which never worked. The chatty family ruined the whole experience for all on the bus. Like the tour guide said to her, we paid to hear her talk about history and the sights and all we heard her do was teach her granddaughters german and talk about their recent time in Paris. If you wanted to be that rude to others around you, hire your own private tour! They were so rude and I've never had a trip like this ruined by such rude people! The tour guide herself was OK in the end, but spent way too much time trying to get people to do the VAT tax return forms. We get it after the first time, it didn't need to be explained over and over and over again. She was a bit over the top and felt a bit unorganized as we walked all over the place in circles sometimes. In Dresden, the gallery we paid for to see was closed and that was disappointing. Don't offer a tour on a day when you sell the gallery and you know it's going to be closed on Monday's. Very disappointed in this trip.

They let a 1 year old baby on this trip that all he did was kick and scream for hours on the bus to and from. That shouldn’t be allowed. Expect to not have much of a “tour” either. It’s really just transportation to and from Dresden for a couple hours there to eat and walk around.

We lucked out and managed to be the only couple on the tour since it was mid December and a Monday. Because of the time of year we went and the fact that it was a Monday, many buildings were closed for the season or for the day so we didn't get a chance to see as much as we wanted but the many beautiful Christmas markets made up for some of the disappointment. No where ever on Viator was it ever mentioned the winter closures and Monday closures so do your homework on opening hours. Out guide Jan, was wonderful and was a great driver. Dresden is a must see any time of the year and this tour is money well spent.
