Tour guide did not match the UNESCO Heritage Site

Our tour guide Jacob gave the tour in German and English. His presentation wasn't clear if he was at a loss for the correct words. He obviously knew the history, but it came across disjointed. The drive took about 2.5 hours n an air conditioned bus with about 12 persons in the tour. In Cesky Krumlov, the tour begins at the Castle Gardens which is a wooded area with baroque gardens. In the middle there is a revolving theater for changing sets offering live shows in the evening which was not part of the tour. From there you go up to the Castle grounds for a photo op and short tour of the castle square. You don't go into the Castle until after lunch. So you go back down for lunch. While you have the choice, the tour guide has us follow him to a designated restaurant because of the limited time. The food was very good but was at least twice more expensive than in Prague. Such for being a captive tour guest. The Castle tour is guided by a Castle guide and was very good though you can't take pictures inside and moves quickly. The interior of the castle reminded me of Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal. There is a huge theater in the Castle where performances are still held. After the castle tour you go back down the hill for a coffee at another tour designated cafe for a coffee. Then back up the hill to see the St. Víta church, and to the bus back to Prague. You get back into Prague at about 7:30 pm depending on traffic.

Bus ride was a little long . Problem with tour is that guide gave information in English then repeated in Italian as we had 1 couple from Italy. Cesky Krumlov was an interesting piece of property. Castle very impressive. Would recommend

Albert was our guide and really made the trip entertaining. His knowledge and stories were awesome. Picked up from our hotel was a bonus. We loved the trip and have fantastic memories, like the best Goulash at the gypsy restaurant. Throughly recommend.

Our guide Albert was great, passionate with lots of humour. We had enough time to explore the town and had the best goulash at the gypsy restaurant.

Should your stay in Prague afford a spare day then this full day excursion must really be considered. This historic place is well worth a visit and should be given consideration. We had a very good guide and had a meal by the river which was most pleasant.

A long day out of Prague

While we enjoyed seeing Cesky Krumlov, the 2 1/2 - 3 hr. bus ride to and from Prague was simply too long. Book this trip from a closer city in Europe. Our tour guide, Karolina, worked hard but she did not speak English all that well and she had a very strong accent, which made it difficult to understand her most of the time. In addition, there were Spanish only speakers on our trip, which meant that she had to give the entire tour in 2 languages, which was very tedious for all. I wouldn't go on another tour of this length if I knew ahead of time that 2 languages were being spoken. Viator did not indicate that this might happen, so I will know to ask in the future ahead of time.

Bilingual guide is not ideal

Cesky Krumlov is great but our tour guide was not. English was not her first language so there were a lot of things that she did not explain in English that she did in Spanish (we speak both so we noticed the difference). There was not a lot of free time in the town and the tour seemed scattered (i.e. meeting point at the top of the castle grounds only to come back down because the bus was not where the tour guide thought it would be). We wasted a lot of time walking aimlessly around that could have been better used as free time. I would recommend going to Cesky Krumlov yourself and doing the castle tour on your own - it is a great, quaint little town!

Wonderful day trip! Cesky Krumlov is an intriguing, beautiful and well preserved medieval city. The castle was incredible and the town below was wonderful. Great for photo-buffs! Our guide made the day even better!

Three of us travelling to Cesky on 7 March was a treat. The guide, Diana, was a vivacious, informative lovely guide and definitely added to the experience. We were in Cesky when it was snowing so that was certainly a treat. Lunch was included in our tour and we enjoyed this too. Definitely worth a trip to Cesky.

We really enjoyed our day in Cesky Krumlov. The tour picked us up in a van at our hotel. It was a 2:30 minute drive over to Cesky Krumlov but our guide used the time to give us lots of background on the Czech Republic and Cesky Krumlov. When we arrived we had great views of this fairy tale city and we toured the castle. We then did a walking tour of the city and enjoyed a nice lunch at a local restaurant. We finished our afternoon with free time to explore and shop. We had both English and Spanish speakers on our tour and our guide was very good at getting timely tour information to us in both languages.

We actually didn't experience the tour at all. The herky-jerky drive from our hotel to the other hotels across Prague to pickup the rest of the tour passengers in a poorly ventilated and very old bus made my daughter so car sick that we had to get off in the middle of the city. This made the driver rather frantic as he had no English and wanted us to get back in the bus to go to the meeting point. We explained to another passenger, who said she would tell the tour leader why we had to leave the tour. It was all pretty distressing.

C.Krumlov was recommended by several travelers and friends as a must see destination. The Day tour started with a confusing set of changing buses but got underway close to schedule. For a nearly 3 hour one way trip, the bus seats were very small and tightly packed. Think your worst airline seat ever less 3 inches of legroom. Our driver and guide were top notch and instructive. The included meal was better than expected good. Cesky Krumlov is a picturesque hill encircled old town with an interesting Castle. The Castle takes less than 1 hour to see completely with guided tour. The town itself has completely lost it's sense of history and is now filled with Jade Jewellers, plastic tourist junk shops, coffee shops and tourists...thousands of tourists. So many tourists that you can easily wait 20 minutes for a table at a coffee shop and another 30 minutes to get served. All in all, we checked the Been there box and are unlikely to return or recommend to others.

I would actually give this about 2.5 stars. The van was small, seats were narrow and close with not enough leg room and there was no air in it which made it stuffy and uncomfortably warm even though it was cool outside. We had two wait for two people who never showed which put us behind schedule and then it became rushed when we there. The location was very good and worth the visit but I don't think I would use viator again.
