It was excellent! The guide was entertaining and informative. We saw parts of the city we would never have found on our own, and learned a lot of historical information. We tried to sign up for another tour in another town but it was booked.

Law and Order in New France:: not much slack given to residents!!

We had a 2 hour walking tour of upper and lower QC with Madame Riviere.....an early colonist who comes back to life in ghost form to show you how the law was maintained and enforced in New France. Punishments were not for the weak of heart...torture was the norm and both the French and British were very good at it. Her dialogue was lively and full of information as she recalled the "good" old days of settlement, filles du roi, marriage, offenses taken seriously and the King's LAW. This is not a "ghost tour".....saw one of those on our travels...but rather THE GHOST of Madam Rivier recollecting her stay and life in the colony. We have been on ghost tours before, but this is much more slanted toward the history of establishing law and order in the colony. Recommend highly.
