Guided Tour of the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac in Quebec City

Irregardless of the heat our guide was very interesting. We learned a lot about the hotel and its architecture. Loved the chandelier in the lobby and those in the ballroom.

Amazing tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, and he explained everything in such a nice way that it seemed like one was really sent back in time and experiencing it as real.

We arrived and asked at desk where 2884 was before we started walking around in windy blowing snow. First we were told one way. Then asked again. Again showing them what was on confirmation. They send us out thru construction and then tell us to go down to gazebo. We see gazebo but no one is there. Went back was told again after showing them address n they pointed us the same way. Nothing shoveled thru work zone. we are not 25yo but 70 and 77. Still didn’t see anyone. We ended up going back into hotel. Someone screwed up we tried to get there. Could only walk around trying to find your for so long with the wind and the snow. I really would like a refund since we were there early but kept getting insane directions to find spot.

The guide was in period costume and stayed in the character as one of the original architects which was fun. The tour started with just a few mins outside and the rest is inside. I found the hotel to be quite warm so dress in layers (no coat check available). The tour was informative and provided access to meeting rooms that are available for personal/business use. If you have several days in Quebec City, it’s worth it, if a short visit, I recommend a history or food walking tours instead.

Our guide met us in the rain outside the designated coffee shop. We gathered and quickly moved inside, then a short walk to the hotel lobby. We were taken into the bar, a restaurant, an historical corridor, and the ballroom.

Our tour guide was knowledgeable, personable and entertaining. The tour was informative and memorable. The size of the group was small enough that it was easy to hear. A good choice.

Emmma was a delight. Her expressive voice as she told the history helped keep us attentive. We had a great explanation of the history and growth of the building and a tour inside. Would have liked to see a bit more but she filled the time. And when she sang a little opera in the pink room that was the icing on the cake.

I was going to rate the tour a 3 but have given the extra star for the guide. She was dressed as Emily Post - there is a connection I don’t want to spoil. She was an excellent guide and very engaging, she made the tour. The hotel was fully booked the day of the tour with two very large conference groups and perhaps this detracted from our experience. I wanted to see more of the hotel itself, perhaps one of the rooms and the “behind the scenes” as advertised, unfortunately this was not the case. With the exception of a private but very boring room downstairs we did not venture far from the lobby which I could have done myself.

We enjoyed the tour very much. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. We had no problem in finding our start point. All the extra information about the surroundings of the Chateau were very informative.
