Lot of Travelling Time

We were picked up at 9am for our tour and were informed it was around 2hr 30 mins drive to Abu Dhabi so around 5 hours of the 10-hour trip was spent in the car travelling. It was a luxury air-conditioned car so a very comfortable journey. The driver was very pleasant and helpful but gave the impression we had hired him and the car for the day rather than him being a guide. Our first stop was to be the Heritage museum which I was looking forward to, however the driver said he new a better Museum and we trusted he knew better. When we arrived, it was actually the Louvre, which was lovely to visit however we had to pay £25 for tickets which we were not expecting to pay as the private Tour was supposed to be all inclusive. I had been looking forward to learning more about the culture, some traditional history and the way people lived. Our next stop was the Emirates palace where we had a photo stop and then on to The Grand Mosque where we spent around 1hr 30 mins. This was the highlight of the day an amazing sight and probably made the day worthwhile. When we got back to the car the driver said he could take us to the Palm on the journey back, but we said we had already visited a couple of days before. We asked if there was somewhere, we could get something to eat as at this point, we had nothing since breakfast. Part of the tour advertised should have been to Al Maryah Island for lunch, a stop at Abu Dhabi Corniche and finally Ferrari world and Yas Marina Circuit but we didn’t visit any of these. I don’t know how we would have fitted all the visits in to the 10-hour day due to the travelling time but felt disappointed that we missed out on all these places. The amount of money we paid for this tour including the additional ticket cost was a lot and I don’t feel it reflected the actual tour we had.

It is worthwile doing. Unfortunatelly we did not visit the Heritage Village as expected programme of the tour should have been made available. Transportation was provided as advertised and the driver has a nice and defensive driving.
