Departure Time

8:30 AM
After hotel pickup in Reykjavik, your day trip starts as you hop aboard the Land Rover Defender and head out of the city to the first stop on the Golden Circle — Thingvellir National Park. At this location where Europe's and North America's tectonic plates meet, you can stand where Vikings once stood centuries ago.

Then head to the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur, home to Iceland's famous geyser that gave its name to all others, as well as Strokkur geyser, which is more active, erupting nearly every five minutes. Look for geothermal activity like steam vents, hot springs, and blue algae.

Then continue to the last Golden Circle stop, Gullfoss waterfall, one of Iceland's most impressive with its dramatic cascade down a deep gorge. When you leave the waterfall, stop for lunch at Gullfoss Cafe, where you can choose from items such as Icelandic meat soup (own expense).

Before heading back to the city, find out what your 4x4 vehicle can do as your guide takes you on a ride to the highlands and glacier area of Langjökull, one of the country's largest ice caps. Visit Faxi waterfall, and then return to Reykjavik, where your tour ends in the evening.

Tour vehicles have been modified with 40-inch (1-meter) wheels that can handle the challenging terrain of Iceland all year. Jeeps are equipped with fold-down steps for easy accessibility, leather seats, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, GPS, first-aid kit, trackwell, and other security equipment.

From start to finish this was an amazing trip . Our trip started 8.40 when we were picked up by our guide Eric before setting off in the most amazing jeep . Our guide Eric was excellent and made the trip a wonderful experience for us . You could see he took great pride in what he does and was full of lots of really great information bringing all the sites we visited to life . We packed so much in for the day before being dropped back to our hotel after 1700 hours . We visited 2 amazing waterfalls , geysers , fault line , site of historic parliament along with visiting a glacier were we took a tour on snow mobiles . We stopped for lunch and the food was excellent . The mode of transport is amazing and it travels so smoothly on really rough terrain . The jeep took us to places were no car or bus can take you . Both my wife and I had a wonderful time . Many thanks Eric
As we’d hoped for...a lovely day

This was a great way to do the Golden Circle. Our guide, Kate, was knowledgeable, entertaining, and screamingly funny and sarcastic — which played very well for our group. She was terrific at knowing when/where to go to avoid horrible crowds (there were two cruise ships in which had some of the major attractions all kinds of cluttered), and did great commentary along the way (also doing a great job of toning down when everyone fell asleep in the car during the afternoon). Only minor suggestions I’d have is to make sure you bring food/water/snacks (perhaps the tour could provide water as many others do). Also, know that the back seat of the Jeep is VERY SMALL for grown adults....and if you’re in a full car, you’ll need to do rotations back there. Our group got a little chippy about rotating ... but it all worked out. WAY BETTER THAN ONE OF THOSE HORRIBLE BIG BUSES!

We had a great trip with Arni in the Super Jeep. He kept us entertained the whole day with information about the history and mythology of Iceland and went out of his way to make this trip special, off roading whenever possible so we went where the buses and mini buses were unable to go. He found the special views and places where there were no other vehicles, and the drive onto the glacier was especially amazing and only possible in one of these huge jeeps. It is definitely worth the extra to take a super jeep tour where the driver can adapt the itinerary to whatever the passengers want. Arnie also took us to a great place to eat, far away from the crowds and serving delicious Icelandic food. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we arrived back later than expected as Arni took us to see places not included on the visit.Thank you Arni for a great day and for taking photos for us everywhere!

Wonderful tour! If you do only one tour in Iceland it needs to be the Golden Circle and we loved doing it by Super Jeep! The Super Jeep tour is probably best for more adventuresome travelers, but everyone should have great fun! Our guide was Sio and he was fantastic. We loved his sense of humor and the stories that he told about the sites we visited. During part of the tour we drove out on the glacier and were able to walk around on it. Having a small group meant that we had more flexibility and were able to spend more time at some of the locations than you would get with the larger tours.
