Well worth the time and money

Thee was a variety of sights (waterfalls, glaciers, beaches, farm land) and after the drive out to the peninsula, they were close together. Driving time was spent listening to both mythical and real stories by the guide. Van was extremely comfortable, but it was a long day (11 hours from pick-up to drop-off). Lunch was provided at a family farm and the food was great (and lots of it). I will temper my review with one final comment, “We had outstanding and warm weather, bright sun, and high clouds, which made for great photography.” Since it’s Iceland, you cannot predict the weather and our other tours typically had full overcast (not unlike Alaska), but for us, we were fortunate and had a great experience.

Memorable Tour
Dina

My impression may be slightly biased because we were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather during the tour, but this was such a fun and interesting trip, with a really nice mix of places on the itinerary - I'm glad we did this and not another Golden Circle tour. The landscape was beautiful, nothing was overcrowded, and our guide Petra was helpful and entertaining. While the distance from Reykjavik is such that it's unavoidable to spend a significant amount of time driving, I feel that we did have a good chunk of time outside; the walks were relaxed, but long enough to get away from the road and focus on the nature and wildlife. We saw seals, lots of birds, and a smelly sperm whale carcass washed up on Ytri Tunga beach (which my 10-year old kid thought was the coolest thing ever). My favorite stop may have been Djupalonssandur (the black pebble beach), and I also really enjoyed the nice relaxed lunch at Lysuholl.

An absolutely amazing day!

I can’t recommend this tour enough. The western peninsula kind of gets lost in the talk about the Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon and Southern Coast. But this is some incredible scenery, and our guide, Petra, made the day even better. Knowledgeable, fun and pretty much one of the most fascinating people I’ve ever met, she brought a dynamic to the day that we really embraced.

Dear Julie, First of all: We really appreciate you taking the time to share your rating with us. Thank you. Second thing: You are completely right, this peninsula is astonishing... and if you add Petra to the combo, then it's fascinating! We’re glad that you got to spend time with her. Her passion is infectious! Looking forward to seeing you again in Iceland :)

I had an absolutely great experience with Petra. She gave a great tour and shared a lot of fascinating stories. It was an intimate experience with a small group. The views were breath taking and the lunch on the farm was hearty and delicious. Would strongly recommend this experience!

Dear Dan, I am extremely glad that you enjoyed our tour. Snæfellsnes peninsula is often referred to as 'Iceland in Miniature', and it is amazingly beautiful. Also, I feel so thankful for having Petra in our team, she’s a great guide. I will let her know about your kind words. Thank you very very much! We hope to see you again sometime soon! Best, Natalia

Beautiful Day in Snaefellness

We had a wonderful time. Petra our Guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She provided lots of information and details that enhanced our trip. Since our group was small there was some flexibility and we were able to see an additional site- climbing a crater! The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed all of the sites. Plus many amazing views. Highlights included the beach with the lifting stones - Djupalonssandur, seeing a waterfall up and close, lunch on the farm, seeing Kirkjufel - Church Mountain and the wall along the cliffs at Arnastapi. Recommended!

EastWest poor customer service
Nik
, Mar 2020
Unfortunately EastWest was not the easiest company to work with. The tour was canceled due to weather, and instead of immediately granting me the refund requested, they tried to sell me on other tours (other companies have given immediate refunds and were more responsive). It sounds like a fun tour, but I booked with another company for the next day due to EastWest customer service.

Great experience and beautiful scenery. The drive is long but worth it. The dinner was absolutely delicious, true authentic home cooked Icelandic food a definite highlight. I would absolutely recommend this tour!

The great, good and ...

I will start with the great. Our tour guide Andy was terrific. A wonderful driver, very knowledgeable and a very nice person that will make every effort to accommodate you. The only thing I might say is, Andy, it is an impossibility to have a 5 minute restroom break with 19 people..lol. Also, the farmhouse meal was delightful. Honestly, a main highlight to the tour. Food was delicious..the mushroom soup is "to die for" good. Good. The tour itself starts slow with a lot of driving and not so exciting stops but improves immensely as you get towards the coast to make it a worthwhile adventure. The bad. While the mini bus is clean and new, the comfort level is simply not adequate if you are over 5' 2" and you should be quite small in stature. I admit that I am plus size and 5'7" but my friend is 5' 4" and has bruises on her knees from them being crammed into the back of the seat in front of her. I would be totally surprised if the seat width is more that 15". We were picked up last and only had the last seat available which was a bench seat for 4 across the back. It was not possible to use the seatbelts with 4 people on the seat and they jam into your butt the entire time. I absolutely recommend the tour operator to book one less person so there are only 3 people on this last seat. I expressed my displeasure to Andy and he asked people to move around on the second half of the tour to allow people in the back to sit forward which they did and was appreciated. I will say, the single seats are just as small and comfort less but you could at least move your arm into the aisle area to access your bag on your lap. This is a good tour and I enjoyed what I saw and the delicious meal would be hard to miss, but I would caution you if comfort for an 11 hour day is important to you.

Trip was a very full day, with lots of great sights. Weather did cooperate after a cloudy start. Dinner at the horse ranch was delicious and very appreciated.
