Meet your guide, a professional chef, at Piazza Farnese in central Rome and discuss the day’s menu before setting off to the Campo de' Fiori market to shop for fresh ingredients.

Enjoy a glimpse of typical Italian life as you explore the bustling marketplace and browse the colorful stalls. Listen as your guide explains the seasonal produce, herbs, and spices on sale and help select the meat, vegetables, and cheeses that you use in your cooking class.

Next, head to your cooking space for the day, an open-plan apartment in the heart of Rome’s Trastevere district, and set to work. Your cooking class is 100% hands-on and you learn to make fresh pasta from scratch, plus chopping the vegetables, blending the sauces and presenting the dishes.

Create three equally delicious pastas—a stuffed pasta, a long pasta, and a short-medium pasta—accompanied by 3 different sauces. That’s not all: prepare a second course of meat, a vegetable side dish, and an indulgent dessert. Along the way, master traditional techniques and pick up expert tips to help you recreate your favorite dishes back home.

Finally, sit down in the dining area to enjoy your home-cooked feast, accompanied by a selection of Italian wines. Your tour ends after lunch and you are given the recipes to take home with you.

Very good cooking course. In fact, the best I have attended. Chef Frederico was very skilled and created an positive atmosphere of fun and learning. Highly recommend for both the novice and the more experienced.

Highlight of my Trip

I have attended a few cooking classes in Europe and this was by far my favorite. Chef Alessandri helped us prepare four delicious recipes. Beyond that, he explained all of his choices in making the recipe and gave us many tips I can use in cooking at home. He was kind, funny, engaging, and interesting. If you are interested in taking a cooking class look no further than this.

Of everything we did in rome, Naples and Venice, this trip to a cooking class in Umbria was by far the most rewarding, surprising and fun. We feel like we really made new friends, with chef Andressi and his lovely family, and truffle dogs taxi and uber. We learned how to make amazing pasta and gnocchi, explained with expert detail and enough effort to challenge but not too much for fun. We miss you guys already and can't wait to see you again! gratzie Mille!

Best Experience in Italy

Highlight of our trip to Italy. My husband & I both enjoyed the experience from the market tour, to hands on pasta making experience. So many things learned from Chef Alessandri. We didn’t feel rushed as we were learning. Plus the 6-course meal was just delicious!!! We were promised copy of recipes we learned and were really hoping they will be emailed.

When we think about visiting Italy, for most of us, I think the first thing that comes to mind is the food. So what better way to take that home than to learn some Italian cooking? Chef Alessandri was an excellent instructor. He kept things light and fun, while sharing a lot of information. One of the things I really liked was that he not only explained HOW to do things - he also explained WHY something should be prepared a certain way to cook it properly and bring out the right flavors. With it being a half-day course, we got to cover a lot of ground. Our class worked on three pasta dishes, each with its own type of pasta and a matching sauce that was quite different from the others. The tomato mother sauce was delicious, of course. The gnocchi turned out to be the best I've had - it nearly melted in your mouth. If you can set aside half a day during your visit to Rome, I would definitely recommend this class. You'll have some new knowledge for making dinner when you get home... and your friends will ooh and ahh over the pictures.
Chef in a Day Worth the Price

Chef Federico was personable and knew his stuff. We arrived at Piazza Farnese and did a bit of exploring in the market and surrounding narrow cobbled streets. Chef and his two sou chefs were right on time. Our market visit and subsequent cheese ship and butcher shop visits were very informative. Walking to his well equipped cooking studio was a bit of a challenge over the gobble stones. Not recommended for mobility challenged. After washing up, we donned our aprons and got to work. During the next four hours we prepared three different handmade pastas and sauces and a main dish of veal loin and learned a myriad of cool culinary tips. Then we enjoyed the fruits of our labors and those of Chef and his Sou Chefs...accompanied by a choice of excellent red and white local Italian wines. Since we had previously done the must-see tourist attractions, this Chef in a Day Class was well worth the time and the price! Manga and Enjoy!

Excellent Cooking Class with Chef Fabrizio Minelli

The class size was perfect. About 9 students. It was fun going to the market with Chef Minelli to choose the vegetables, cheeses, breads. Chef Minelli showed us how to make from scratch 3 types of pastas one filled with freshly made pesto. We also made fresh Mother Sauce to go with the pasta. The class participated making the dishes with personalized instruction from the chef. Chef Minelli explained things throughout the class such as why three types of tomatoes are used for the sauce or how and why to properly cook the potatoes for the gnocchi. The presentation of all the dishes was impressive. Chef Minelli and his two assistants did an excellent job with the cooking class. Also, the wine was plentiful and delicious too. I would highly recommend taking this class. Informative, organized, professional, delicious and memorable.

Chef Fabrizio and his sous chefs Brenda & Kelly are a wonderful team. Fabrizio is a real character and makes the day both educational and fun. His sense of humour is just like one of us Aussie’s so we understood all his jokes! The step by step instructions, especially the tips on what to do and what NEVER to do, are things we will not forget when we return home. We can not recommend this Chef in a Day experience more highly even if you are not mad about cooking - you can just be mad about eating and you won’t be disappointed. Thanks Fabrizio and team!!!!

My husband and I went to the cooking class. It was a very nice size group, and Chef Federico was incredibly nice, entertaining, and knowledgeable. Both my husband and I cook a lot, but we both learned a lot of new things. The food was excellent!
