Return Details

Saint Peter's Square, Forum Sancti Petri, Città del Vaticano, Vatican City
Meet your local guide at the tour office to enter the Vatican Museums. Then, with your skip-the-line ticket, step inside to start your Vatican and Sistine Chapel tour. Follow your guide, listening to tales of saintliness and scandal, and learn about the Vatican’s place as one of the holiest sites in Christendom.

Italian art flourished in the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and the Vatican popes put together one of the world’s largest collections of private art with frescos, paintings, sculptures, and treasure. See the highlights as you walk through galleries such as Raphael’s Rooms, and hear stories behind works such as the 'School of Athens'—a piece that features images of Michelangelo and Raphael himself.

Pass through halls such as the Gallery of the Masks and Gallery of the Maps. Then, make your way into the Sistine Chapel. A sacred spot and the private papal chapel, the Sistine Chapel is also renowned for its Michelangelo frescoes—'The Last Judgement' and 'The Creation of Adam.'

Continue to St. Peter’s Basilica, which is said to be built on the ground where St. Peter is buried. Admire 'La Pietà,' an early Michelangelo sculpture, and pause to rub the foot of a statue of St. Peter, said to bring good luck. Your Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica tour then finishes outside the church.

Too many people on the tour

The tour was informative but there was nearly double the amount of people participating than it stated when we purchased the tickets. Also it started nearly 45 minutes late. (because one party was late)

An experienced Guide but the tour was over subscribed and failed to continue to St Peter's Basilica under COVID.

We were booked on a small tour of 7 but in fact we were 15. The tour did not include a guide for St Peter's Basilica and the guide left us after the museum and Sistine Chapel part of the tour. So not happy with the overall event.

A wonderful tour on art and history

The tour was excellent. The Vatican museum is massive, so I feel without a guide it could easily be overwhelming. Unfortunately we were not able to get a tour of St. Peter’s this meant our tour inside the Vatican museum was extended to the full 3 hours. (St Peter’s is free to enter so we simply walked round the Vatican walls after the tour to see it). The tour of the Vatican museum was fascinating the guide focused mainly on art and the links between the different stages of the rise of the power of the Vatican. The guide was able to tell how how clearly the art from different time periods link together which I found the most interesting. If I’m being honest I was slightly worried the tour would be based around purely Catholicism but it was more focused on art and history which I personally found to be a bonus. I would definitely recommend getting a tour ! Oh also when the tour is finished you are allowed to stay inside the museum for as long as you wish and walk round and do it again as there is not time to see the whole place in 3hrs.

Would not recommend

I booked this tour for August 18th. Despite being stated in the tour description, we did not have a tour guide and we were not given a head set. We did not receive queue jump for the Vatican Museums or St Peters Basilica. The ticket we received on arrival at the Vatican Museums said €17, and entry to St Peters Basilica was free, therefore I am not sure what I paid £120 for. I am completely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this tour. Complete waste of money. On returning home, I contacted the tour operator with all of this information however have had no response.

Dear Customer, We are sorry for your experience. You bought the skip the line tickets for Vatican Museum, you didn't buy the tour. In this special moment the queue you have seen is for the security check (temperature check and metal detector). We hipe to have a second chance for your next trip in Rome. Best regards

didnt have radio to hear the guide because we were only 10 people in our group, we only did the museums with the guide (i would have liked to hear the guide for St Peter’s Basilica), tour was quite short, just over 2h however, the guide was very friendly and nice

Dear Customer, Thanks for spendig your time for the review. During this time, post Covid-19, Vatican has particular rules, one of this is for the radio. We are happy your tour was fine and we hope to have a second chance for your next trip to Rome. Best regards

Maybe some improvement of time management

It was not exactly what we expected. Vatican Museum was great and Sistine Chapel was awesome.Tour guide was experienced and professional. But time was too short so we didn’t reached to St.Peters Basilica with guided tour and go there independently on next day. Maybe this tour needed more time to complete all the promised tasks. In my opinion Visiting St.Peters Basilica first time is much more enjoyable with experienced tour guide instead to get the expressions only by yourself.

Dear Customer, Thanks for your review and your suggestions, we'll share them with the manager. We are happy the tour guide was professional. We hope to be the first choice for your next tour in Rome. Best regards

We have not got all service we bought- in this package attendance of St. Peter basilic was not provided. But, the guide was excellent!

Dear Customer, we are happy our guide was excellent!! Unfortunately, as Vatican rules, following Covid-19, it is not possible to access the Basilica directly from Vatican Museums and it is not possible to take the tour. We have added the beautiful Raphael Rooms to our tour, while the visit to St. Peter's Basilica is free. See you for the next visit of Rome. Best regards

No tour of St Peters or the Sistine chapel
Nin
, Jul 2020
The tour guide was v good/knowledgeable but there was no tour of St Peter's!!! Which was the main reason myself and my friend booked the tour. There were significant changes to the tour as advertised, and at no point were we informed. Only as the tour was about to commence I. E on the day, just as we were to set out for St Paul's (despite having arrived 30mins in advance) - so there was no time to consider this major change to the tour as advertised. Not only this but when we set off to go to St Peter's ourself we weren't informed of the closing time so not only did we not get a tour of St Peters as advertised I didn't get to visit the cathedral at all. It was my last day in Rome so I completely missed out due to the misleading nature of the tour as advertised. I paid over 100 for both 'tours', whereas I could have just paid 17 for entry to the main site. I have requested a refund and apology but have yet to hear back from viator. Dissapointed is an understatement.
