Bypass the entrance lines and head straight inside with your skip-the-line ticket to explore the archaeological digs.

Your tour takes in the streets around the ancient town as well as the domus of Pompeii—a site to which your group has exclusive access. Learn about Pompeii’s upper-class gentry who lived in these houses as you wander around.

Enjoy a break to shop for keepsakes and perhaps a snack, and then relax on the journey to nearby Sorrento: gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Sip the local limoncello, the popular southern Italian liqueur, and hear tales of Sorrentine culture and history from your guide as you explore artisan shops in the town.

Pompeii Archaeological Park
Just an hour after departing Rome by high speed train, your local guide will greet you on the platform in Naples. From here it’s a short trip in a plush private bus to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii, a once-bustling port city buried for hundreds of years under a blanket of volcanic ash. A specially licensed Pompeii guide will take you on a 2-hour tour of this fascinating archaeological site. With homes and places of work all frozen in time, just as they were when Mt. Vesuvius erupted and annihilated the city, it’s an incredible window into ordinary Italian life centuries ago.

Pompei and Sorrento Small Group tour

Although the weather was rainy for most of the trip, this was one of the most memorable tours I took from Rome. We were met at the main train terminal in Rome by our host, who directed us to the proper track in the busy station. He saw us onto the train safely. The train was very clean, and the ride was smooth, with lovely countryside views, and arrived on time. Our local tour guide, Vincenzio ('Enzio'), escorted us to our large bus (even though our group was very small), where we had plenty of room to stretch out. Enzio is from Naples, and related fascinating stories of the city. He turned us over to another experienced guide for the Pompei tour, which was fabulous. Without the detailed knowledge of the guide, we would not have experienced the full impact of life in Pompei before the eruption. We were then joined once again with Enzio, and got on the bus for a 45-minute drive to Sorrento, where we had lunch at a lovely restaurant overlooking the city. Enzio showed us a couple of special shops with outstanding products, including a cameo shop that had been run by the same family for 3 generations, and a delicious lemon shop with the best limoncello ever. We had over an hour of free time to browse the other shops and even dip our toes into the Mediterranean See on the beach. This is the only way to go for your Pompei tour, even though it is more expensive than most (because of the train ride, which took just over an hour - less than half as long as driving would have been). The expertise of our guides and bus driver was worth every penny.
Best Tour Guide in Pompeii

Nicola was the best guide we could have ever imagined for our tour in Pompeii. He was born in Pompeii and has been a guide for 51 years. So knowledgeable and passionate. It was an amazing experience. Unfortunately, traffic prevented us from having much time in Sorrento, but that is something you just can't control.
Awesome Tour! Loved it!

I actually signed up for the Pompeii and Amalfi Coast tour. Somehow I was scheduled on this tour. I discovered it that morning at the RR station in Rome. Since the tours were traveling to Naples and then to Pompeii together before they parted ways, and since the Amalfi tour was only half full. I asked to be transferred. They said it wouldn't work because the Amalfi tour took longer and they were booked on a later train and they couldn't transfer the tickets. I asked if I independently bought tickets on the later train could I change. They said no because there wasn't time before the bus left to see if tickets were available. Sorrento was beautiful, we had lunch looking over the sea, and the lemon shop was great. I had a very good time, but I was counting on the Amalfi tour.

Excellent trip to Pompeii and Sorrento. Our guide, Ches, was fantastic. The train ride and bus was very comfortable. The guide in Rome was right on time and was very helpful in getting our group to the train. Ches met us in Napoli and we quickly got on the air conditioned bus to Pompeii. The Pompeii guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. Sorrento was beautiful and we enjoyed a nice lunch and tour of the town.
