I signed up for hop on hop off tour at 1:50 with only 2 buses running. It was a compromise from more buses but I thought I could make do. When I arrived they said there was only 1 bus and it was at 3:15. And there was only 1 10 minute stop. It was a beautiful day and had I known earlier than 1:30 I would have made other plans for the day. They said they had been running this schedule for over a month and I had just bought my tickets on line a week ago. I took the city tour to fill in the wait time. I thought they might give me a discount due to the situation but they didn’t.
NOT A HOP ON HOP OFF...it’s a shuttle to ONE location!!!

This was terrible. The website said the buses came every hour but they actually had 2 per day which means if you took the first bus you could get off at one stop and then you would need to get on the second bus to get home. If you took the second bus you were not able to get off the bus. I booked for 2 days and the first day I took the second bus and I sat on the bus for 2 hours trying to take pictures from the window. The second day I purchased a city bus ticket and rode the city bus into St. Gilden so that I could take the cable car up to the top and hike around. Otherwise, I would have had only 2 hours before I needed to catch the second bus back. I reached out to the company for a refund prior to using the tickets after speaking with an employee but was worried they would not get back to me in time so I ended up using the ticket. They did offer me a credit which was nice, but if you are only going to offer 2 buses per day, do not call it hop on hop off because that is very misleading.

Must-see on your Salzburg trip!

This tour is a good break from the huge crowds of tourists in Salzburg and the time at the lakes is very relaxing. The bus route takes you to the main highlights of the Salzburg lakes region and gives enough time to walk around each village, although we did not get off at Fuschl. Our bus driver was very nice to pull over and let us take pictures of Wolfgangsee at an overlook before the St. Gilgen stop. Since the bus reaches each stop once an hour, it's better to get to the stop early so that you don't miss the bus. I also recommend taking the boat trip on Wolfgangsee (we did the trip from St. Gilgen to St. Wolfgang).

This is a must do for amazing views. A must do is the train at Schafbergspitze which travels up the mountain 1730m but pre book if possible as it is very popular

This is a must do in Salzburg. The clean mountain air and pristine lakes are to be experienced. The 'Sound of Music' locations are so nostalgic. You can leisurely stop any lake region and spend even two hours there before the next bus comes. Leave early from Salzburg to make full use of longer stops in areas you like.

This was a terrific tour to explore the lakes region. We loved the hop on hop off process and it gave us plenty of time for lunch and walking around the towns. Everything happened without a hitch and as promised.

The most interesting and beautiful place to visit in Austria was Salzburg lake district with this hop on hop off tour. First bus of tour starts at 0940 in morning for Salzburg city center and then after every 1.5 hour up till 5 pm. Boat ride from St Gilgin to wolfgangsee was wonderful. The highlight of the tour was cog wheel train ride from wolfgangsee to top. This ride is not to be missed although a bit expensive Euro 70/person but it has a good value for money. I advise everyone who wish to visit main lakes and take ride on cog wheel train to start the visit with first bus 0940 in morning, otherwise you have to drop some location or have to return Salzburg with some public transport and not on hop on bus.

Fin tur i flott landskap hvor høydepunktet var tur til Schafbergspitze med jernbane. Guiden var ikke så informativ om geografien og bl.a. vi passerte flere landsbyer uten kommentarer. Fin ordning med hop on hop off på denne måten.
