Depart from Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport in an air-conditioned vehicle, after priority access through customs, and travel to the thriving center of San Salvador to see some of the city’s most impressive monuments. Note the contrast between metropolitan structures and antique architecture as you explore El Salvador’s bustling capital with a private guide or on your own with a private driver.

Tour the historic downtown to catch glimpses of structural beauties like the Metropolitan Cathedral and El Rosario Church, and absorb the tranquil ambiance of Salvador del Mundo, a leafy square thronged with decorative beauty.

After a thorough exploration of the country's capital, ascend to a height of 5,905 feet (1,800m) to El Boquerón, a magnificent volcano whose enormous mouth is the symbol of the city. Gaze at the colossal crater and stroll pine-flanked trails for sweeping vistas of the impressive scenery.

Revitalize with a snack in town at any point (own expense) and then return to the airport at the end of your tour. Arrive well in advance of your connecting flight and bid your guide farewell on departure.

Great way to spend a layover!

I had a long layover in San Salvador and am so glad I decided to do this tour! My guide, Alfredo, drove us to see the city plazas and then to the El Boqueron National Park to see the volcano. He always had great explanations for the things we were seeing and was very knowledgeable about the area. We even had time to stop to eat some pupusas before heading back to the airport, which were delicious! Thanks Alfredo for being such a great guide! I definitely recommend this if you have some time between your flights.

From the moment we landed, we were breezed through customs by the stopover tour folks. Our tour guide, Cesar quickly swooped us up right outside and took us straight to a strip of pupuserias where we were able to enjoy some of the traditional local food (yum) then onto El Boqueron, which was stunning, and down back into downtown San Salvador. A lively city with a lot of history and a lot of action! Id most definitely recommend this tour for anyone with an extended layover.

The whole process to get us through immigration fast worked well. We met our driver/guide Irving as we exited and we were on our way. Spent the morning learning about the town and taking a short hike up the volcano.

Perfect Layover Tour

Took tour during six hour layover en route to Belize. Breezed through immigration and customs with assistance from the very friendly folks at the desk opposite Gate 6. Eduardo offered great insight on the history and current state of El Salvador, including his personal experiences. Managed to see everything listed in the description and a couple of additional sites without feeling rushed notwithstanding the time constraints. Would sign up again without hesitation.

Fantastic way to spend the when you have a long layover. Irving was my personal tour guide. He was knowledgeable engaging and fun! Their commitment to assisting you through customs/immigration was exactly as described. There was a long line and their team member at the airport took me right to the front of the line- no fees! San Salvador is rich in history and beauty. Wish I had more time!

The guide Alfredo was very kind and arranged our trip very well. We could stop by Starbucks for El Salvador origin coffee, and CVS for Salvadorean beer. He also introduced traditional Salvadorean food. We could enjoy El Salvador well for 5 hrs. Recommend him!

Benjamin is a really great tour guide. Because my friend and I had a really long layover, he adjusted the tour for us. He brought us to the beach, the volcano, and the city. Benjamin is a bird expert, so we get to see a lot other than just the volcano itself. Also, because we wanted to buy mangoes, he had been paying attention to the street vendor. He showed us a lot of the city and explained a lot, it is a great experience overall.

We had an excellent tour of San Salvador. The reception at the airport to facilitate the tour and immigration process was an excellent proceeds. Our guide Elduardo was very knowledgeable and helped my wife in climbing the stairs when we visited Volcano crater. Overall had fun and enjoyed the stopover tour.

This was the perfect tour for my long layover in El Salvador. Moises was our tour guide who took us to many wonderful and beautiful sights in and around San Salvador city. The pickup at the airport was quick and easy and we were on our way. Moises was a wonderful tour guide, and extremely knowledgeable about the locations he took us too. His short history lessons on many of the sights made the trip even more enjoyable. I really felt like I got a glimpse of the real El Salvador during this tour.
