Overview

Many visitors to Santorini stick to the main island and never make it to the impressive volcano jutting out from across the caldera - but a much greater number of in-the-know visitors make the journey during peak season, meaning that seats on cruises often sell out weeks or months ahead of time. There are no water taxis or ferries to the volcano, either, so a tour is really the only way to visit. Don’t miss out on your chance to sail into the caldera, walk along the volcano ridge, and learn all about the volcano’s history and geology.
  • Perfect for time-pressed visitors: see the caldera and volcano in half a day
  • Take the chance to soak in the mineral springs at Palea Kameni
  • Avoid FOMO: don’t miss out on seeing the caldera up close
  • Break off and discover the volcano yourself or walk and talk with your guide

No go on this one

Definitely not worth it. Very rushed thru out. Warm beer in the 'snack bar' with not much else. Crammed everyone on board and not enough seats. Very disappointing tour to locations that would have been wonderful if planned well.

Guide was really...

Guide was really informative, told us about the volcano site and hot spot. Was really windy on the day we went so hike was a bit on the harder side. Have to pay 5 euros on the spot.

Very fun! And reasonably priced. The volcano is a must-see, amazing views and a little bit of history.

Ups and downs but still worth it

Definitely good. It is a bit difficult to find the office because it does not have the same name as the tour operator. Do not worry, there are only 2 offices, ask in any of them. Do not expect a private or small tour, it is a big boat with a lot of people, however, it is quite the expected for the price. It is a must while in Santorini. The guide is very nice and knowledgeable although the comments are difficult to hear while in the boat despite the fact the they use a micro. Remember not to brig white swinsuit! It could end up tainted in the hot springs. All in all, really good experience!

Good experience though I overpaid

I enjoyed the experience, however the tickets were only valued at €20 when I got to the port. I paid €30 per ticket on Viator’s web site so for 4 tickets, I overpaid by €40. The person at the port advised to take this matter up directly with Viator in order to reclaim the difference.

Just ok - nothing special

The tour was fine but nothing exciting. We had to reverse our swimming bc there were too many people on the island. It’s basically a climb with a minute amount of information. Not personal at all. Very crowded. You MUST exchange your voucher for a paper ticket per Greek law. The lady at the office is grumpy.

Was ok

It is a "do it if you have time but not a must-see" kind of trip. It was quite a crowded boat and the checking in/ getting tickets part was a hot mess and so unorganised but the staff on board the boat including the guide was good. Bring good walking sandals or shoes for the walk, and warm clothes for after the swim especially on a windy day. The walk is 30 mins uphill to the crater (and back) so if it was a sunny day without wind it would be brutally hot, but luckily we had a strong breeze that day which made the walk much nicer but the boat ride after the swim was cold - pack accordingly.

Fun, but difficult climbing

My son and enjoyed it, but he and others tripped and fell along the way up the crater. I feel that your company should publicize a warming to customers about the difficulties and rigor required for this tour.

Not quite as advertised

The hike to the caldera was a good 30 minutes in ridiculous heat. I felt like that was not explained in the information and I would have chosen differently if I had known.

Floating brown things
Daniel_R

Volcano was fun to do but not something I would do against. A basic hike to see not much. Views are cool. As far as the hot springs you had to swim through cold water to get to the Luke warm mud water and what ever that brown stuff was that floats on top. Fun time with my wife but would not do twice
