DMZ tour - Small-group and No Shopping

Very educational trip, with no distractions like shopping and souvenir stops. Our guide Cindy was excellent and provided much insights and background information which allowed even my children to understand the general background and significance of the places we visited.

Interesting tour with glimpses of the world of the North Koreans and the people who live in the DMZ. Sadness related to lost opportunities

The DMZ tour is very rushed and a bit pricey. It would be nice to be able to do this on a private tour at a leisurely pace, but that would be a lot more expensive, if even an option at all. The DMZ Tour stops at the last train station before North Korea, the 3rd Tunnel, and a few other sights. The Tunnel is by far the best part - there is a short video that is very informative that the western guests watch. The Koreans don't for some reason. You can walk into the tunnel with hard helmets - needed for sure since the ceiling is low. You walk down the tunnel for about 300 meters - it's steep. At the bottom you can crouch down for about 5 minutes of walking to the end - where it has been sealed. It's worth it, but can be tough if you aren't in good physical condition or are scared of small spaces. Our guide was very good and very informative, I just wish they would provide more time at the sights. You are herded around like cattle jumping on and off the bus.

Our trip to the DMZ was just what we expected. We were picked up at the hotel on time and received a lot of good information on Seoul and Korea during the 1 hour rides to and from the DMZ. After transferring to the DMZ bus, the stops were all fairly short but allowed sufficient time to get an overview of each location. It was 100 degrees the day we made the tour but our bus was cool and we managed to visit each location without incident. This was one of the few tours that picked you up and returned you to the hotel which was a big advantage over other tours that dropped you off a location remote from your hotel. The walk down into the infiltration tunnel is difficult for anyone that has limitations on hiking but is manageable if you are in reasonable shape and not too tall.The tour guide spoke good English and was personable. Our group consisted of 5 plus there were another 4 people from other locations on the bus for a total of 9. Overall the trip was what we anticipated and we would highly recommend this tour to others.
