Customized Taiwan Shore Excursion

From our port in Keelung, we had planned on visiting Taipei, but the rainy, cool weather changed our plans. We had planned to see Taipei 101 but we would told that the view would be disappointing, and the crowds/traffic would not be the best of our limited stay in this country. Our tour guide, Crystal, recommended that we visit other sites in Taiwan to maximize our cultural experience during our visit. She offered ponchos to everyone to help with the wet weather, and luckily we bought our umbellas too. Our stops included Yehlui Geo Park, where we saw various natural rock formations. We also visited PingXi, a small town with a railway down its main street and released a sky lantern. A cultural highlight was going to Chuifen and trying out the local street food in its market, Crystal was very knowledgable about the different foods and auggested which ones to try. She took lots of pictures. On the way back to the ship, we stopped at a buddha temple in Keelung. Overall, it was not we had planned but it was still a great experience for our group. I would recommend this tour company but temper your expectations based on the weather.

Caleb was both knowledgeable and generous in sharing history and culture of the locations we visited. We talked at the outset about our interests and he incorporated all of those into the day trip. Wonderful English speaker , great sense of humour and someone who made our tour of Taipei memorable .

Excellent, customized private tour

Our family of 6 adults and 2 children really enjoyed the private tour of Taipei with Mr. James, our driver and guide. He welcomed our suggestions and created an itinerary based on our wishes. I wish that we had more time in Chuifen but we were rushed to get back to Taipei to see other sites. There weren't a lot of shopping options aside from the large corporate chain stores that you can find in the US in Taipei so we wish that we had spent more time in Chuifen shopping at small stores selling local handicrafts. Otherwise, we had a wonderful experience in Taipei. Mr. James was very accommodating, especially to our 2 and 5 year old who kept asking him to play "Baby Shark". He made us feel welcome and we felt very safe with him.

We did a full day tour with Caleb. He knew a lot about the National Palace Museum and did a great job showing us the key pieces and providing info about each item he pointed out. He suggested Lin An Tai a free historic merchants house in a park, explaining the lifestyle depicted. We did a quick stop to see the elaborate Grand Hotel lobby. Then on to Bao-an Temple, Di Hua Street to see the dry goods on display with beautiful building facades on the upper levels, Longshan Temple, the changing of the guards at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (and just where to stand for the best viewing), and a stop at the Smoothie House for a mango ice treat ranked by CNN as 18th best food to taste in Taiwan. It was a fun day! We couldn't have asked for more.

Wonderful day in Taipei

We had a wonderful and attentive guy in Double Wei. He took us to see the Grand Hotel and other famous sites in the city. He didn't make us walk far, always dropping us off and picking up close by. Although his English was not totally fluent, he did his best. He took us to a great restaurant to try Xiaolungboa (dumplings). The most wonderful part was he took many photos for the four of us so we have lots of good memory at places we visited. Thank you again, Double.

Enjoyable and educational day. Did not realized I hired more of a driver than a guide. Therefore he was not always with us to answer questions.

Wonderful Day in Taiwan with Vincent!

Vincent picked us up from our cruise ship dock at 8:30 A.M. and orchestrated a great day seeing all the most interesting sights, most of whom we had requested. They included the Chiang Kai-Shek memorial, the 101 Tower, the National Palace Museum, a beautiful Buddhist temple, and the changing of the military guard. All the while he was upbeat, spoke excellent English and took lots of photos of us which he promptly sent us after the tour. He also added a lovely gondola ride up a mountain with spectacular views of Taiwan. He timed everything to get us back to the ship within our guidelines. We highly recommend Vincent for your time in Taiwan!
