Eat and shop like a Japanese local during this immersive, food-themed trip inside Tokyo’s famous Tsukiji Market. If you want to get a sense of Japanese culinary culture, you couldn’t possibly start at a better place.

Meet up with your guide just outside the market’s main gate, in the morning. As you navigate your way through this labyrinth of all things seafood, learn from your guide about the market’s history and why many Japan’s top chefs visit here daily to pick up the freshest-quality ingredients. You never know what you might find as you stroll past the outer stalls of this amazing food center. You might see piles of sea urchin (uni) stacked neatly in boxes, watch as vendors carve massive Bluefin tuna or spot pufferfish floating in tanks.

With all this walking, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Luckily, you sample a tasty assortment of Japanese foodstuffs like sushi, Japanese-style omelets, Japanese tea, sake, fried fish cakes, and fresh oysters to help fuel your exploration.

Our Tsukiji tour was fantastic! The market itself is super interesting. Our guide, Chi, was very friendly and knowledgeable and able to answer our many questions. The food was delicious, too! We would highly recommend this tour—we learned so much more than we would have on our own.

My guide Lily was awesome!! I did this experience on my first day in Tokyo and it was a wonderful experience. The food choices where great and so fresh! Lily was kind and so patient with the group. Her English was great and she told us so much about the fish market including a little of the history of the market. Lily also gave us wonderful ideas and places to go in Tokyo. She went to above and beyond and even helped me get back to the train station. I will be forever grateful to her!!!

The Fish Market tour was the last thing I did before leaving Japan and it was a perfect way to end the holiday. It would also be a perfect way to start out a holiday in Japan! The tour took us through the markets, stopping to see, and regularly taste, products and wares. Our guide was friendly, professional and spoke English very well. It’s worth it to take this tour, instead of just wandering by yourself. And we finished w a cup of warm saki- very welcome on the cold winter’s day.

We had a really great time visiting this place. Our guide, Mrs. Yuki, was so kind and polite! She started the visit explaining some cultural and religious issues about the Tsukiji Hongwanji (temple), located just in front of the market. After that, we went to the Tsujiki experience, and I have to say, It's essential doing this with a local. They know exactly where to go and what to taste, so if you go alone, you will miss the essential. Highly recommended!
