Tsukiji market tour with Yoshino
Mary L
, Nov 2019
Our guide Yoshino is very good. Knowledgeable, thoughtful and gave us a lot of information about the different local food. She was very patient with all our questions. We highly recommend her as a guide for the Tsukiji market tour. The sushi making class was also very good. The chef was a good teacher and the food was good.

Great tour and fun experience making sushi

I booked this tour because I thought it would be a great combination and a fun activity to do with other people. I often travel alone and it’s nice to occasionally have some interactive time. Our guide, NAOKO, did a fantastic job explaining various items in the market, taking us to some interesting stalls we might have otherwise missed and explaining not only the foods we were tasting but also their cultural significance. There were a couple of kids on the trip and she also worked to engage them and keep their interest. We stopped at the local Shinto shrine for a quick cultural lesson. I think it would be easy to miss, so I was glad Naoko took the time to take us there.
The sushi lesson was fun and just challenging enough! I enjoy cooking so I now feel a little more confidence possibly trying this out at home. Plus, we ended up having a pretty large lunch as part of the package and, yes, we ate our own creations.
I think the only think I might has liked to do is possibly try a few of the items for sale at the market stalls (I’m looking at you unagi!). But, I can also understand how that might interrupt the flow and slow us down.
Thank you for keeping the group relatively small—we were seven. So it never felt like a huge challenge keeping everyone together.
Thanks Naoko! ありがとうございます😊
great experience

One of the Best Tours I've EVER Done!

, Aug 2019
We've done a lot of tours all over the world, so we can absolutely say this one is one of the best! We had Sachimi which was the sweetest, most wonderful and intelligent person ever! Somehow we ended up with just her (my husband and I) so it was like a a private tours! Tsukiji Fish Market is a MUST SEE when visiting Tokyo. All the delicious food stalls and sights and smells were ones to remember. We ate so much food! The inner market has moved to another location but there is still so much to eat and taste. We actually lucked out -- someone had a bought a $10,000 tuna and ended up cutting it live in the inner market! This isn't common, but we had really good timing. The sushi making class was in Ginza in a beautiful under ground restaurant -- we got to sit in a traditional-style private room and watched as the chef cut up sushi in front of us! We had the best time. Thank you Sachimi!
Absolutely amazing

This tour and cooking class was so informative and a lot of fun too! I had my own private guide and she answered all of my questions, even a lot I had about japanese culture in general and where off topic! She also told me about a few recipes while wandering around Tsukiji market. From there on we went to a very cute japanese restaurant where a very nice sushi chef teached me and another group how to make sushi. The meal was so huge and it was a very fun experience. After we finished, everyone got a certificate and the recipe with all of the instructions so you can also make sushi at home. I had an amazing time, I definetly recommend this to everyone who is interested in japanese cooking and Food in general!

A great experience and well worth the money. Our guide was Eri was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The market tour was really fun, you get to try a few different Japanese snacks and see a variety of different different foods. The sushi experience was good fun. A passionate and friendly sushi chef who didn't speak English (Eri translated) this actually made it more authentic. The quality of the fish was pretty good. I was stuffed after we ate lunch, so a light breakfast is recommended. It is definitely an experience, rather than a cooking class.
Fabulous Tour!

An interesting and informative tour of the area around Tsukiji Fish Market. Unfortunately, the walk around which used to be part of this tour is no longer possible as, at present, the outer market can no longer be visited until later in the morning and the tour, to fit everything in, starts quite early. However, there are still many interesting places to visit in the public market outside. The tour guide was informative, friendly, and helpful. After the market visit, the tour moves on to the sushi making course which is excellent and solved the puzzle as to how these items are made. We will certainly try it at home now. Afterwards, we ate our creations which more than adequately served as our lunch. We would have given this 5 stars but have reduced it to 4 due to the more limited tour of the outer market, arising due to recently implemented Tsukiji Market restrictions. However, the same restrictions will surely affect all such tours. As an introduction to Tsukiji Market and sushi making we found it to be most interesting and excellent fun.

This was a fantastic tour. Touring the outer fish market was fascinating and the kids really enjoyed sampling various items from the different stores. The crab soup and wasabi nori were definite winners.
The sushi making was heaps of fun. Our sushi master was very funny and very patient with our kids. We got to make various kinds of sushi. The best part was eating it for our lunch, although we couldn't finish it because there was so much food.
Very highly recommend this tour.

Touring the outer market, you could see the variety of food and snacks that the Japanese culture offers. Though with the limited time, you cannot just casually queue for the good eats there which is a minor difficulty.
The inner market offers a view into what really goes on behind the kitchen, food preparation. And the fruit market, gives a glance into the large variety and quantity of food that goes through Tokyo in a day.
Onto the Sushi Making, it was fun and detailed, the ingredients fresh and delicious. The chef in charge of the demonstration was very lively and you could just get caught up in the atmosphere and mood.

I went on this tour as a solo traveler and it was great! Our guide, Toshi, was enthusiastic and spoke excellent English. He allowed time for us to buy anything we saw during the market tour. He was also very helpful in interacting with the market shop owners and letting us try samples of the food during the market visit. The sushi making experience was the highlight, and was based in a professional kitchen named 'Tokyo Sushi Academy'. We were taught to make more than 10 types of sushi with high quality ingredients, and the instructor spoke English well too. I would highly recommend this trip.
