A pleasant day in Bulgaria
, Sep 2019
The short day trip to Bulgaria from Bucharest was nice. Although it felt we spent more our time on the road than to an actual sightseeing it was worth it after having spent a short time admiring the fortress and the paintings in the church. After a brief moment inside the fortress and looking over the small village from the top of the hill, we stopped at the local restaurant. Marius our guide was absolutely on point in terms of good food at said restaurant. Throughout the day of our tour Marius took us to three places. The Monks' peaceful haven, Tsaravets Fortress and the local restaurant in Arbanasi Village. The monastery that carved out of rocks on the hillside of Veliko Tarnovo was a bit of interesting and boring at the same time. My bad..... It was too quiet area for me. Interesting enough though to learn how the monks had only used their perseverance with ancient tools to dig out their dwelling place out in nowhere. The Tsaravets Fortress was very nice. It sits on top of the hill looking over the small village of Arbanasi. The fortress to this day still retain some parts of it, but I can only imagine how gorgeous it was during its former glory. Lastly, the highlight of our trip was where we rested and ate our lunch. I forgot the name of the restaurant but Marius our guide then can take you there. I enjoyed my scrumptious well done beef steak accompanied with healthy delicious tabouleh. My boyfriend had tried the skewered pork and vegetables with feeling IMPRESSED how good they taste. Marius did a good job for having us tried the local food from them. We are a couple of food lovers and believe me I know what good food is. So thankful this restaurant serves good food. I recommend everyone to try out this trip and ask for Marius. He speaks English fluently and quite knowledgeable. If you like to have intelligent conversation while you sit your butt in a car for a long ride, Marius will ease your boredom. The trip includes the drop off either in the OLD TOWN or at the hotel within the area of PIATA UNIRII. ENJOY😃😃😃
