Your day trip begins in central Vienna, where you meet up with your guide and hop aboard your coach.

Watch the scenery change from the capital’s bustling streets to the picturesque landscape of the Austrian countryside. Journey through the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley, a 24-mile (39-km) stretch of the Danube River. Hear about the history of the area from your guide as you travel.

Pass by the medieval castle ruins of Dürnstein Castle before heading to Spitz, where you hop aboard a boat. Enjoy a stunning ride along the Danube, passing the wine town of Krems. (Please note, during the winter months November through April the boat tour will be replaced by lunch).

Arrive in Melk for a visit to the Benedictine Melk Abbey, which overlooks the river. First established in the 11th century, the Baroque-style abbey is adorned in bright frescoes and has housed monks for over 900 years.

In total the trip was amazing. From the very beginning it was perfectly organized. Everything was precise and clear. It was totally worth the price. The trip was both interesting and informative. It was not just a cruise but gave the insight into the history, culture and everyday lifestyle of habitants’ which I really enjoyed. My friend and I liked the boat cruise, gardens, the Melk city in general, and surely we would be glad to visit it again. The guiding was also excellent, making the trip more exciting, enjoyable and easy to follow.

This tour permits to have a panoramic view of the beautiful Dachau region. It includes the visit of the small but charming town of Dürnstein, a 50 minutes cruise at a beautiful stretch of the Danube river, time to have lunch in a good restaurant with acceptable prices and a 50 minutes guided tour, in English, to the imposing Melk Abbey, 8h 30m in total. The tour guide was a very competent gentleman whose explanations made in German, English and Spanish where important for the a well passed day.

Lovely day away from the city.

The boat ride on the Danube - beautiful! I would have liked more time at the first stop since 20 minutes wasn't nearly enough to experience it. Also, after the abbey tour, 30 minutes wasn't enough to experience the town of Melk. I would have been happy to return later if there had been more time added to these stops.

Worthwhile Tour to other parts of Austria.

, Jul 2022
The tour involved a 1.5 hour bus trip from Vienna to the Danube Valley - along the way we saw ruins of very old houses/buildings before having a walk through Durnstein. Our tour guide provided a lot of information. We then drove a little further to embark on the Danube river cruise that lasted about 30 minutes. Onboard, people can buy food and drinks and choose to sit upstairs in the sun or shade or downstairs. We then went to the Melk Abbey where we had time for lunch before a long guided tour through a small part of the Abbey.

Wonderful experience. Knowledgeable guide and the tour was in three languages, which was very helpful. The tour included several hours on a river boat, which was lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a leisurely exploration of the area around Vienna.

Durntein was excellent, perhaps a little too short. The boat ride was ok, but the extreme heat forced us to go inside. The abbey was very impressive, but there was no time to explore the town. Overall they delivered what they offered, but taking a trip by car by ourselves would have allowed for more flexibility. Doing triple-laguages explanations was quite remarkable, but annoying

Great time visiting the Wachau valley
Phillip_N
, Jun 2022
We really enjoyed the whole experience of visiting the lovely town of Durnstein, to ride the boat from Spitz to Melk, and to see the Melk Abbey museum. My most memorable part is seeing how many cyclist ride along the Danube going from town to town. As a cyclist, I would love to join in. Unfortunately, my spouse is not a cyclist so we took this tour instead. This tour allowed us to visit the Wachau valley that would have not been possible by taking public transportation.
