Great way to see Budapest in a day
Valentina_S
, Jan 2022
We took a trip through Europe and wanted to see several cities in addition to spending time in some of the larger ones, so from Vienna we booked a day trip to Budapest. How could we be so close to this famous city and not visit it? We were picked up on time in a very comfortable Mercedes van. Our guide was very professional and knowledgeable. After what seemed to be a very quick drive we arrived in Budapest. Our guide took us to several key locations around the city where we had the opportunity to get out and explore. We enjoyed this since it was December and very cold, so after exploring we could climb back into the nice warm van... I know, wimps... We had a final stop along the Danube across from the parliament for scenic photos and also had about 3 hours to explore the area. We walked to the market and saw a little bit of the resident's daily life. There were all kinds of stands with food products, my son loved the whole pigs. We went to a nearby restaurant, Mesterek Konyhaja, which was recommended by people we talked to on the street. The food was delicious, and the beer was cold. We met back with our guide at the designated time and returned to Vienna content to have experienced just a slice in time in Budapest.

Fabulous and Most Interesting Day in Budapest!

Peter picked us up at our hotel where we joined 2 passengers and picked up 4 more at two different hotels. His van was spacious and clean which made for a very comfortable journey to Budapest - just over two hours from Vienna. Water was available for all passengers. As we made our way to Budapest, Peter shared a lot of history about the city, what we could expect when we arrived as well as what we saw on our way. The tour was as promised. We started at the highest point of elevation (Gellert Hill) which have us a panoramic view of Buda and Pest and an ideal perspective. Then, we visited the Castle District ad visited Mattias Church. A highlight of this stop was to enjoy coffee and pastry (vanilla cream and chocolat torte) at Ruszwurm, the oldest cafe in Budapest. After, we saw the Hungarian parliament buildings from a vantage point across the river along with other important sites before we stopped to spend time in St, Stephen's Basilica. Before each stop, Peter shared just the right amount of information to make our visit more enjoyable. Toward the end of our tur, Peter gave us time to spend in the downtown area to ship or enjoy a meal. We did a little shopping but opted to spend more time over wine and a meal of Hungarian Goulash and Chicken Paprikash - we couldn't miss these 2 well-known dishes. Peter returned us to our hotel around 7:15 p.m. This tour from start to finish was about 12 hours but we were unaware of the amount of time because it was chock full of beautiful sites, sounds and delicious treats. We highly recommend Peter as a guide and this tour.

See all the highlights of Budapest hassle free

Fun, and hassle free trip. They pick you up and drop you off from your location. You see all the key sites of Budapest and learn about the history along they way. I wish there was more time for the museum, but it's only a day trip and there is so much to see. Prepare for a busy day.

Lovely time in Budapest, our tour guide, Peter, was very helpful and informative. The drive was a bit lengthy but the time we actually spent in Budapest more than made up for the travel time. It was a very small group, 2 couples, which made this tour feel more intimate. Highly recommend this tour.

This trip was amazing! The perfect mix of free time and sightseeing. We felt like we got to see the whole city and learn a ton about it too!!! Beautiful and easy way to see Budapest- this was totally worth the money!!! I would definitely recommend this- it is the easiest way to see a whole different city without really having to plan anything yourself at all!!! Tour guide was great and knew a ton about the city and picked us up and dropped us off exactly where we asked.

The city is worth the trip. I loved not having to worry about train/bus schedules and I knew I would see the best of Budapest. Guide (Peter) was knowledgeable, friendly, a good driver, and made the day very interesting.

Budapest is worth the visit. Very comfortable on this small group trip. Our guide, Balazs, was amazing. A Hungarian native educated in Vienna and Spain. Very pleasant and informative. He adeptly adjusted to the various needs of his passengers.
