Surprisingly excellent

Expectations weren't too high, just a tour to get outside the city. There was so much to do there besides the mansion itself. There are lovely gardens and trails but the museum was the highlight. The theater Experience was the best history lesson ever for all ages. Lovely gift shops and dining choices. The tour company itself is rather a van driver since they just drop you off there and you are on your own. He did however stop in Alexandria so we could visit the church there. He was very knowledgeable and fun. I'm sure it's the cheapest way to get there on your own so this is a definite recommend to get outside the city.

This was a great experience! The van was extremely comfortable and air conditioned. Joe was an amazing driver and guide. Loved how the trip included a small tour of Alexandria.

Highly recommend the Mount Vernon tour. The grounds were breathtaking and easy to understand why Washington wanted to retire there. Our tour guide, Joey was both personable and professional.

Spend more time in the museum if the orientation film is not available due to COvID

The museum is well worth the time. I didn’t know how much was there and ran out of time. The mansion was ok but spent a lot of time after the mansion tour. Missing the orientation film was a bummer.

Great experience but need more time there

The tour of Washington’s home was amazing and seeing the church where he worshipped was also fantastic. My only critique was the time element. The tour needs to be AT LEAST one hour longer. I didn’t get to see everything at Mount Vernon due to the time constraints of the tour. Overall great but the tour definitely needs to be longer. PS. Two thumbs up for the tour guide, Joe!!

The tour began and ended on time. Our guide Joe was funny and very knowledgeable. Loved touring inside the mansion and seeing their burial site on the premises. The view from their porch of the Potomac is gorgeous!

I would say an okay trip. Would never do it again.

I liked seeing the place where George Washington lived and how he owned so many slaves. Hate to think of our founding father in that light. Before dying he did free them however, he was able to live a wonderful life on their backs. Literally.

My trip experience

I bought tickets for a Mount Vernon and Old Town Alexandria guided bus tour. I got a ride to Mount Vernon and a self guided tour and no tour of Old Town Alexandria. We really enjoyed Mount Vernon but I feel scammed because there was no tour of Old Town.
